Celebrate the Arts

“Art in Motion” – 53rd Annual Celebrate the Arts Show and ChalkFest
October 29 & 30, Monrovia Library Park

This 53nd Annual Show will feature our second chalk festival in Monrovia, a beer garden, a glass-blowing demonstration, art by Mt. Sierra College students, and kids chalk and coloring activities. Photographers Steve and Marianne McCarthy will be our Featured Artists.

Fine Arts
More than 60 fine artists will display their work at this year’s show. You’ll see painting, photography, mixed media, ceramics, jewelry, sculpture, live art demonstrations, glass blowing, and more. And we’re proud that our show is giving professional experience to art students from these schools: Mt. Sierra College, Monrovia High School, Canyon High School, and South Pasadena High School.

Chalk Art
Be stunned by the beauty and 3-D wizardry of our professional chalk artists’ work as it takes shape before your eyes. The artists are competing for a $500 cash prize among others in our ChalkFest competition.

Beer Garden
Our friends at Pacific Plate Brewing Company here in Monrovia will provide refreshing brews, including one custom designed for and named after our Celebrate the Arts event.

Entertainment
We have an exciting roster of top music and dance artists to entertain you each afternoon of the show.

Awards and Recognition
At 11:30 on Saturday, MAFA will confer several awards and certificates of recognition for Featured Artists, our Event Sponsors, and leading Monrovians who work tirelessly to support the arts and art education in our community. Guest speakers will include Monrovia City Manager Oliver Chi, and former Monrovia mayor Mary Ann Lutz.

Community Groups
We’re please to welcome back some of our most distinguished community groups: Monrovia Garden Club (check out their plants for sale!), Monrovia Historic Preservation Group, and Monrovia Rock Hounds. Find out how they serve our community and how you can join them.

Delicious Food Treats
We’ve rounded up some of the most mouth-watering food you can find! Visit the Food Truck area on Lime Avenue for everything from tacos to burgers to mac and cheese to cool and delicious Hawaiian shave ice.
